The City of Westfir is now accepting applications for the Relief Water/Wastewater Operator position. Seeking a self-motivated individual with the desire to obtain training for Class 1 certification in collection and treatment for Wastewater, also Class 1 certification as Operator for water in both treatment and distribution, if not currently certified.

This is a part time position that requires an individual to work weekend and Holiday shifts. Wage based on experience. A background check is a requirement for employment and if hired, applicant must incur the cost.

RELIEF CITY OPERATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION

Hours:
Weekends, holidays, and as required by the City Operator. Approximately 20 hours per month. Must be on call for City emergencies.

Pay:
Hourly wage $12-$14/hour, to be determined by the City Council

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED

Responsibilities:
o Test water and wastewater daily
o Monitor the North Fork River at the water intake for both level and turbidity
o Record details of above tasks daily as completed and save for City Operator to be used for records sent to the State
o Complete tasks assigned by City Operator
o Any items other than those listed above that fall within the City Operator’s daily responsibilities during the City Operator’s absence. (Maintenance of City buildings, vehicle and other equipment, and properties. Leak investigation, meter readings, shut offs, etc.)

The City of Westfir is now accepting applications for the Portal Rest Area Maintenance Worker position. The position requires knowledge and use of lawn care equipment, irrigation systems, janitorial work, and the ability to work around and with the public. General duties include maintaining restrooms, landscaping and tree care, security system monitoring, and pressure washing.

PORTAL REST AREA MAINTENANCE WORKER
JOB DESCRIPTION

Hours:
This is a year round job with fluctuating hours depending on the season. There will be more landscape work during the months of March thru September and less in other seasons. The Portal shall be maintained in good condition all year.

Pay:
Monthly salary, to be determined by the City Council

Responsibilities:
o Must work around and with the public while maintaining a positive attitude and a neat appearance. The City will initially provide 2 work shirts and a hat, with replacement uniform items provided when needed.
o Clean Restrooms as needed depending on use: empty trash, sweep, mop, clean sinks, toilets & floors, stock paper supplies and soap. Request replacement supplies and/or equipment in a timely manner.
o Keep all paved areas clear of vegetation and miscellaneous debris.
o Keep picnic tables and shelters clean and functional.
o Check and dump garbage, clean cans and replace trash bags when needed.
o Maintain lighting and bulletin boards.
o Monitor security system and report problems.
o Place signage, turn on electricity/water, and prepare gate locks, etc. for Portal rental dates and events. Provide recommendations to City Recorder and/or Councilors for rental/event agreement modifications.
o Stock the dog sack station and request replacement bags in a timely manner.
o Maintain and monitor the play structure: repair any damage needed or request assistance from other City employees.
o Maintain the irrigation system and set the timer according to the watering needs of the season.
o Water and mow all grass; edge and fertilize as needed.
o Weed around plants, trees, and other vegetation. Maintain bark dust areas and water plants.
o Maintain all mowing, blowing, and weed-eating equipment and keep in good working order.
o Work with other City employees and/or volunteers when upgrades to the Portal are needed.
o Abate blackberry vegetation annually or as necessary.
